It's dedication time.  What song are you sending out, and who is it dedicated to?

My Dad - the man who taught me about butterfly kisses. Miss you Dad.

Today while sitting in the parking lot at my son's school  I gave him butterfly kisses before he walked out the door.

And of course my Momma who's been my everything.

There are several specific times in every year that I am reminded of my father. Of course holidays and important dates remind me of him but these are times in each year that stick out. One of those times is when they harvest onions. For the past two weeks they have been loading up trucks with millions of onions. There is a good onion kind of smell in the air and honestly I'm not a big fan of onions. The trucks of onions are full to the max with onions peaking out over the top of the truck in a pyramid shape. Because the trucks are over-loaded and the turns are tight you'll see onions every few miles or so, all around the back roads we drive daily. My children look forward to all the onions being harvested so I'll quit pointing out full trucks or an unsquished onion on the road.

Why do onions most importantly the road onions remind me of my father?

Its a silly little childhood memory... driving home one night with my family on the freeway. An onion truck had dropped hundreds of onions. My mother being the frugal, non-wasting woman made my father pull to the side of the road so we could recover some of them. At the time I was a pre-teen and so embarrassed. I hoped no one would see me picking up onions on the side of the road. Who knew years later when I saw those onions they'd be able to make me smile and feel so loved?

I almost forgot the most used by my dad. I would get so angry at him when he did it to me, but thought it was funny as heck when he did it to other people.

When asked "what are you doing?"
He'd reply "something to make little girls ask questions."
