I am so happy for a four day weekend. They put a teacher in service on Tuesday to go with Martin Luther King day. After this it is a long stretch before we get another four day weekend or any major amount of time off until spring break. Then it seems like an even longer break stretch until school is out for summer. I'm trying to figure out what we'll tell my son when his sister starts homeschooling and he still has to go to school. Any ideas?
Did a little bit of online Christmas shopping the other day. I used my favorite coupon site and was able to score some very good discounts along the way. Bought my usual Christmas present for my husband, his favorite cologne from FragranceX.com, they had already sent me a coupon in an email but the discount was even greater when using CouponChief. They always have the best online coupons.
After I was able to get the husband done then I went in pursuit of the best discount on the presents I wanted to get my kids. I was looking for an mp3 player for my daughter, originally I wanted to get her an ipod but that was just out of my price range. My son knew he wanted a PSP. Both kids know if they got a high ticket item then their Christmas presents would be limited to one each. After doing some serious research on the PSP, I actually want one now too. I told my daughter all about them and she decided the PSP could do far more for her than some lame ipod or mp3 player. You can go online with a PSP did you know that? Music, pictures, movies, internet, online games, normal games, so much more... I'm serious I want one too.
So the three most important people are basically done, other than a few little items.
Show us peace.
My daughter is home sick today. It is taking every ounce of will power to be a responsible parent and take my son to school. Normally I'd let my son stay home too and we'd all be sleeping right this minute. But instead I'm still taking my son and I'll still be going into work in his class later today.
Being responsible sucks!
Does anyone watch this? My kids and I have been watching it since the first episode. I know lots of people were horrified at the thought of these kids being out there by themselves. But I figure if their parents signed up them to do it then who am I to say its wrong. The kids and I are excited to see it every Wednesday. We all watch together and talk fast during the commercials about what we did and didn't like. There is a girl on there named Taylor oh man... if I was her parents I'd be so embarrassed. Granted she's only like 9 or 10 but she is one spoiled little brat. I can't imagine some of the younger kids being out there away from their parents. I asked my son if he could be away from us. He said "NO WAY! I'd be crying all the time." So Thursday is survivor night with my husband (sometimes, he doesn't always watch it). But Wednesday night is Kid Nation with my munchkins.
School has been going ok for my daughter. The boy that was giving her a hard time has been on lock down at school pretty much and has just recently been allowed to walk the halls without an adult. His little group of friends have been scared enough to leave her alone as well. We are having weekly emails back and forth with the school, just to keep things in check. But I think she's starting to feel somewhat comfortable again. Although she still doesn't want to go to school, its not because she's scared anymore. We just need to make it through this year and then we'll be home schooling her, not sure about her brother yet.
I got all my household stuff done early so that I'd have the rest of the day to goof off if I wanted to. But then after sending my husband off to work and finishing up my things to do, I decided what better way to goof off then to take a long nap. Of course all the dogs, saw the blanket and couldn't get under it fast enough. My daughter's dog just loves to nap under the covers and my Kirby dog is the warmest dog on earth so he is forced to snuggle even if he doesn't feel like it.
Not too long after I had gotten up and taken a shower my daughter called me on her cell phone. She wasn't feeling well but she knew the nurse would send her back to class so two of her friends helped cover her while she used her cell phone, a big no-no at school. She asked if I'd come get her out and of course I did. About an hour later it was time to get my son and then onto homework. It was the fastest day ever.
