I am so happy for a four day weekend. They put a teacher in service on Tuesday to go with Martin Luther King day. After this it is a long stretch before we get another four day weekend or any major amount of time off until spring break. Then it seems like an even longer break stretch until school is out for summer. I'm trying to figure out what we'll tell my son when his sister starts homeschooling and he still has to go to school. Any ideas?
School has been going ok for my daughter. The boy that was giving her a hard time has been on lock down at school pretty much and has just recently been allowed to walk the halls without an adult. His little group of friends have been scared enough to leave her alone as well. We are having weekly emails back and forth with the school, just to keep things in check. But I think she's starting to feel somewhat comfortable again. Although she still doesn't want to go to school, its not because she's scared anymore. We just need to make it through this year and then we'll be home schooling her, not sure about her brother yet.
I got all my household stuff done early so that I'd have the rest of the day to goof off if I wanted to. But then after sending my husband off to work and finishing up my things to do, I decided what better way to goof off then to take a long nap. Of course all the dogs, saw the blanket and couldn't get under it fast enough. My daughter's dog just loves to nap under the covers and my Kirby dog is the warmest dog on earth so he is forced to snuggle even if he doesn't feel like it.
Not too long after I had gotten up and taken a shower my daughter called me on her cell phone. She wasn't feeling well but she knew the nurse would send her back to class so two of her friends helped cover her while she used her cell phone, a big no-no at school. She asked if I'd come get her out and of course I did. About an hour later it was time to get my son and then onto homework. It was the fastest day ever.
I like to get to my daughter's school a little early when I pick her up so I can watch the other children come out of the building. I like to see what they are wearing or not wearing as the case may be. My daughter has always been less advanced than most kids. By far she is more mature but as far as growing up, forget it she doesn't want to do it.
Today a girl, the same age as my daughter walked out of that building and I have to say I was slightly taken aback. She didn't have revealing clothes on or anything, although they were pretty form fitting, but the amount of make-up blew me away. I could have easily used the same amount of make-up for at least a month. Where were her parents when she headed out the door with that clown mask on?
I am thankful that my daughter still (and hopefully for a long time to come) has no interest in boys. I know this will probably change sooner than I'd like and probably this school year. But until them I'm going to look at my clean faced, young lady and know she's a pure angel.
First week of school down, even if it was only half a week. We made it. This weekend will be spent catching up on sleep because you know next week the homework will start coming in. I can tell you I am not looking forward to that. My daughter is pretty much on her own and does very well but my son... he take a lot more effort on my part, which I don't mind but it can be very stressful.
So I'm going to enjoy my last weekend of homework free drama!
My children headed back to school today. My son in first grade and my daughter in eighth. They both survived the day and only said it was boring about 3 times each. Of course they were extremely tired since they couldn't fall asleep last night. My daughter has a male homeroom teacher again which annoys her, she'd like a cool female teacher. My son has the teacher that was recommend by his Kindergarten teacher, he seems to like her. Me... I'm just hanging on for the ride.
I’ve always thought my husband should become a massage therapist . He is really good with people and could talk to them and put them at ease as well as the fact that he has the warmest hands on earth and they just feel so good. Besides the money he’d get in tips alone would be so worth it. So I’m goofing off online looking at Massage schools and come across this site, Guide to health care schools. Even here in Idaho there is a program for massage therapy as well as many other fields. Dental Assistant, EKG Technician, Fitness Trainer, Medical Assistant, Sonographer/Ultrasound Tech, Radiology Tech, LPN, Veterinary Tech and lots more. He was in the medical field for almost 20 years and stepped away because of the physical drains on his body. I think being a massage therapist would be good for him now mentally without putting a lot of strain on his body. I think I’ll get him the information and leave it for him to find and he’ll decide he wants a career change.
A boy my daughter goes to school with is very ill. He was burnt badly in a gas station fire. He was doing very good but has taken a turn for the worse. Please if you pray, pray for this boy. He's a super good kid and to be totally honest I don't want my daughter to lose her first friend, she's far too young for that. So please pray, chant do whatever you think works best so this boy may get better soon.
What was (or is) your favorite subject in school?
It would have been any reading classes. I also loved Drivers Ed.
