My kids on Thanksgiving. My daughter was reading to my son and I was sitting behind them. I took the first picture and my daughter moved away. So then I told them to get back how they were and then my son moved away. I guess they didn't want any proof that they totally dig each other.

My son started taking showers before school this year. Sometimes it doesn't work so well because my husband also showers in the morning. Usually my husband is gone before we even wake up, but lately he's been going in a little later, just because he's burnt out. So this morning was one of those times when they both wanted in the shower at the same time. Normally not a problem, husband just lets him in. This morning though, my husband's back was hurting so he wanted all the hot water to himself (My son doesn't share to well in the shower.)

I finally got my son in and we were talking about how there wasn't a lot of hot water left. I told him that daddy didn't have a lot of hot water either. His response reminded me how a child's mind works. He said "Yeah and he stayed in the shower for two whole episodes of Sponge Bob."

Time is just a matter of episodes.

Skaterboy

Skateboard

My son is a huge fan of skateboarding. Unfortunately his Dad is really against it, because he doesn’t want him getting hurt. Last year for Easter I bought him a small skateboard to get started with. But tonight I found some really great skateboards and accessories. I might just have to leave a few pictures lying around for Dad to find.

I know my son would be super happy with me if I could get him a full sized skateboard. Of course I’d get him a super cool skateboard, a few ramps and/or jumps, helmet, knee and elbow pads. We’d also have to get some groovy wheels.

When I pick up my daughter from school I see about 10 boys all riding off on their skateboards and one kid even has a remote controlled skateboard. There are several boys in the neighborhood that are always outside doing their jumps. Its just a matter of time before my son and I break down his daddies defenses and he agrees to a skateboard.

Red Chucks

He woke up and saw his bike in the living room. He was thrilled with the bike. He and I did a test run outside and it'll take a bit of practice but I think he's got it. My husband and I had promised him red Chuckie Taylors if he slept in his room all week so he and I went in search of them. The only pair and luckily they fit! He picked out his cake mix and frosting and then we went home and made them. His Dad brought home pizza his birthday dinner choice. After dinner we sang him the birthday song and now he's just chillin'.

He's a big boy now. He told me so.

New baby

We had a birthday this weekend. Well several birthdays. Louie was born Nov 11th (according to the animal shelter) so it really was his 1st birthday. The vet told us Diva was about the same age as Louie and Kirby came to us in July so this weekend my daughter deemed "Doggie Day". Her brother and I over-ruled and said it was a mutual birthday. We bought them, pig ears, treats and a couple of new toys. There was also cake but it was dog food so it wasn't all that human friendly.

Another wonderful change happened on thursday actually...

Early Christmas Present

I had talked to my MIL earlier in the week and she told me that they were taking us Christmas shopping on Thursday and not to let my husband plan or go anywhere else. My husband and I racked our brains all week wondering what it could be. I actually guessed right, but then laughed it off because that would be too much. Well long story short, his parents knew that my family was coming this Thanksgiving and they might come to my house as well, so they didn't want me to be embarassed by my furniture. Which just so happens to be their old furniture that my husband just loved, but that was worn out. (AND GREEN!) I'm very lucky to have the in-laws that I do have, because they have a little extra money... ok and they are really really nice too. heh
